Full disclosure, I have loved just about every Emily Giffin book I’ve ever read! This one was a good read, and really kept me on the hook wanting answers.
My favorite things about this book were that it was set in Nashville, so it mentions a lot of cool spots you’ll recognize if you’ve been. Also, Emily writes from each characters perspective so you constantly have a different view of the situations throughout the book.
The message of this book was by far the most powerful I’ve seen come from any of Emily’s books. The book throws you right into the scandal of well-to-do, white, high school boys taking advantage of a drunk girl at a party. I thought the story was well written, and the message timelier than ever as this seems to be a constant real life storyline we see.
This book really hit me in the feels, and I felt myself reliving some traumas from my younger years. I think the main take away from this book is that these types of situations (no matter how shitty) are more common than we may think, and we have to remember that we as females have a voice and we should use it!
All in all I’d recommend this book to anyone, but especially teenage girls and adult women alike! With parental advisement for the young adults because there is some heavy content.
Happy reading 🙂
