Exploring Flagler Beach

This has been a pretty intense couple of months for my husband and I between crazy work schedules, caring for family and just trying to dodge some unexpected, stressful curve balls. All of this to say we’ve been really craving a peaceful, relaxing weekend. When I found The White Orchid Inn & Spa in Flagler Beach online I thought it looked like the perfect place to go for some R&R, and boy was I right!

My favorite part of The White Orchid was that it is oceanfront! We were just across A1A from the water. It is a lovely bed & breakfast type inn that had a beautiful swimming area, a hot mineral pool and a spa! Y’all know we packed our scooters, but they also had bicycles available so that guests could explore Flagler Beach like locals. They offered up a fresh cooked breakfast every morning, and a wine happy hour in the afternoon. I would go again next weekend if I could, it was that lovely!

We started our weekend off with a nice couples massage at the spa, and then from there spent our weekend exploring the local bar & restaurants, enjoying the beach and relaxing at the pool just outside of our room.

Pretty much every location in Flagler Beach has a killer happy hour or drink specials. There were lots of open air, oceanfront options for a quick drink or a snack, and quite a few places with live music going that were fun for hanging out longer.

One of our favorite spots was Key West Eats. We found this spot because it was literally right behind our inn. The food here was DELICIOUS! We had both their Cuban sandwich and their sloppy joe nachos, which were both insanely good! They also had a stage behind their outside bar with live music along with assorted outdoor games. My only warning would be if you go during the summer, wear something you don’t mind sweating through!

We also enjoyed Tortugas Florida Kitchen & Bar, which had an upstairs patio with a beautiful view, The White Lion and Johnny D’s. Flagler Beach was a little slower than we are used to here in Jax Beach, which was perfect for the vibe we were looking for. It is exactly what you think of when you think of a small Florida beach town.

Overall we really enjoyed the town and the people we met in it, and I’m sure we will be back!
