Happy International Women’s Day!

Happy International Women’s Day to all of you ladies! As explained on internationalwomensday.com, “International Women’s Day is all about unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy and action – whatever that looks like globally at a local level. But one thing is for sure, International Women’s Day has been occurring for well over a century – and continue’s to grow from strength to strength.”

No matter if you are a mildly opinionated women, or an extreme feminist we can all come together on this day and appreciate how far women’s rights have come & feel inspired by those women who got us here and keep pushing the boundaries. There are so many strong women who inspire me, from family to friends to colleagues to famed feminist I will never meet, but am truly grateful for…

To celebrate this beautiful day, I am going to share with you some women who inspire me! There are honestly too many to feature, but these are a few of the women out there kicking butt & taking names as we speak.

My Momma:

She is one of the best, and strongest women I know. She put herself on the back burner for years to raise her family (and honestly, still does to an extent for her grandchildren). She has instilled in me from a young age that I can do anything I set my mind too, and that I don’t need a man to take care of me! Even though she and my dad have been married for almost 40 years, she has always remained fiercely independent. Her ability to love through hard times and her take no shit attitude make her a lady hero in my eyes!

The notorious RBG:

The second female justice to sit on the U.S. Supreme Court has made major career strides in a “man’s world”. She has spent a large part of her career advocating for women’s rights & for equality. She is a true bad ass, and honestly I could spend countless hours reading things she has said.

“Reacting in anger or annoyance will not advance one’s ability to persuade.” – RBG

My Girl Gang:

I am beyond hashtag blessed to be surrounded by a strong group of women that I call friends. These women respectively crush it in their careers, are strong minded and stand up for what they believe in. They are an amazing support system, and I feel SO happy to have quality women in my life. We don’t always agree, but the beauty is that we aren’t afraid to be open and honest with one another, and for that I am EXTREMELY grateful!

The USWNT Soccer Team:

These women have caused a stir in the sports world concerning equal pay for equal play. It has been a pretty big deal!

After years of pay disparity and being unheard these women collectively bossed up & filed a gender discrimination lawsuit against U.S. Soccer Federations. They have been granted class action status and are awaiting trial in May 2020.

The outcome of this could be HUGE for women athletes across the board.

The 904 Boss Babes:

I’ve talked about them before, but 904 Boss Babes was founded by four local, women & business owners; Jennifer & Heather of Hollis & Hull, Ali of Alley Cakes & Grace of Sub Cultured Subs.

They have given the ladies of Jacksonville a networking community that is truly unlike any other. The quarterly events they host are always an amazing time, while offering a laid back environment to mingle at your own pace.

I have met SO MANY amazing women who have inspired me at these events, and am thankful to have become a part of the 904 Boss Babes community!

Taylor Swift:

T Swift has definitely found her voice in the past year or so, and I’m not talking about musically. She has stopped worrying about how it would affect her career, and has really started speaking up for women’s rights.

It started with suing the man who sexually assaulted her for one symbolic dollar. Since then she has been very vocal politically supporting women’s rights, LGBTQ rights and just equality in general.

It’s refreshing to see someone with so much public reach finally feel they can use their voice to help level the playing field.

**Written while blasting ‘The Man’ by T Swift**

I hope you all have a fabulous International Women’s Day, and continue to be inspired by brave, awesome & badass women all year long! Let’s use this day as a reminder that we all have a voice, and no matter how far our reach we can still inspire change. Drop a line in the comments to tell me which women are currently inspiring you!
